Flow Master was established in 1996, to assemble high quality flexible connectors in support of appliance manufacturers. The business grew to include distribution to plumbing wholesalers and manufacturers of water filtration products and other products that required the use of flexible water connectors.
Flow Master was the last full line assembler of flexible connectors left in the United States. The product offering included over 400-line items as well as custom sizes. Everything was built to order.
Flow Master earned a reputation for making the highest quality connectors in the industry and had a loyal following of plumbing wholesalers and other manufactures of water related products.
Company annual revenue was in the $3.5 million range.
Unfortunately, in the early 2000's an acetal plastic ballcock nut for use with toilet connectors was purchased from China. Although certified by IAPMO this nut was problematic and resulted in insurance claims that in reality severely hampered the ability of the company to progress going forward.
Flow Master stopped using the plastic nut in October of 2006. The claim ratio of non-toilet hoses assembled to insurance claims declined to .00005. Of that small number of claims vs. the hundreds of thousands of connectors made is a testament to the high quality of Flow Master's superior products. Subsequently, virtually all the non-toilet connector claims were denied because of improper installations.
Most Core Flow Master products were IAPMO certified, and NSF certified depending on application. Many had dual certification.
Flow Master's triple-crimp technology and the size of its barbs and sleeves are unique to the industry. Longer barbs and sleeves provide a larger crimping surface to prevent leaks. Also, the unique 3-ring crimp provides maximum sealing power. The Flow Master stainless braided hoses have exceeded over 2000psi in testing. |
